Transforming Healthcare at St. James's Hospital

Our Journey

St. James's Hospital Foundation has embarked on a journey of transformation, with ambitious plans for St. James's Hospital in the years ahead. Since its establishment in 2006, the Foundation has raised approximately €8 million and made innovation and clinical excellence happen.

St. James's Hospital has highlighted four priority projects where the Foundation can provide critical funding and support:

ICU Family Room at St. James' Hospital, fundeded by St. James' Hospital Foundation

Cancer Institute: Strengthening our position as Ireland's premier centre for cancer care by collaborating with the Mercer Institute for Successful Aging to advance clinical trials, pharmacology, and translational research.

Critical Care Excellence: Expanding capacity and excellence in critical care by adding ICU capacity and expertise over the next five years, enhancing critical care services in Dublin and beyond.

Inclusion Health: Addressing the unique needs of those experiencing homelessness, drug addiction, mental health issues, by establishing a state-of-the-art trauma-informed centre.

Innovation Campus: Creating a campus of the future, focusing on learning, development, excellence, translational research, and patient-centred care.

Case Study

In 2023, with generous donations and private support, the Foundation accomplished significant milestones.

These included funding the first Cancer Compounding Robot in any Irish hospital, revolutionising chemotherapy development and delivery at St. James's Hospital.

Additionally, we established a Family Room, the Camino Reflection Garden, and initiated Small Grants Rounds to enhance patient care and support.
